Environment and Conservation

The September edition of the Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission’s newsletter is out now – and includes a warm ‘farewell tribute’ to CAFOD’s Bronagh Daly, who is moving on after seven years with us; plus an excellent article by Keith Pitcher, giving much more detail on all the environmental initiatives taking place in the Parish of SS John Fisher and Thomas More.

These initiatives gained the Burley-in-Wharfedale parish a CAFOD ‘live simply’ award – and after being seen on these diocesan Environment pages, the parish was also celebrated in the national Catholic press!

There’s also information on the SPARK Social Justice event for people in the 18-30 age group which is taking place at Wheeler Hall 10am-4pm on Saturday 8 October  – and listings for lots of other events and talks which are also promoted via the J&P Website.

There’s no such thing as ‘too much good news’!
Our diocesan website, of which these Environment pages are an important part, is visited between 10,00 and 17,00 times a month, including by journalists from Catholic, local, national and international press and media looking for human interest stories and photographs to use or even re-publish! So to give YOUR parish, school or charity’s Social Justice and Environmental initiatives the best chance of having the widest possible impact, in addition to sending your news and stories for the J&P e-newsletter, why not also cc them to environment@dioceseofleeds.org.uk or communications@dioceseofleeds.org.uk for a ‘standalone’ story on the diocesan website as well?
