Objects from the Diocese
During the Year of the Word, we showcased artifacts from across the Diocese in a series of videos. Each object has a connection to the Bible and the videos include interviews with local people, as well as some background on the objects themselves, and a guided meditation.
Skipton’s Saintly Stone
This unusual stone is held by the parish of St. Stephen.
God’s Granny. Keighley’s Memorial to St. Anne
We listened to the reactions of St. Anne’s Primary School pupils and staff to this carving in which St. Anne teaches a young Mary. We also spoke to other members of St. Anne’s parish about the involvement of families.
Gabriel’s Message for Harrogate
We travelled to St. John Fisher School where the chapel contains an altar carving depicting the Annunciation. Rev. Henry Longbottom and Dr. Gregory Stacey, of the Vicariate for Education, spoke with the school librarian Mrs. Pollard, and the chaplain, Mr. Atkin. After a guided Lectio Divina we hear the responses of the pupils to the carving. The beautiful photographs were taken by pupils studying GCSE Photography.
