First Encounter

Within the Diocese, we are presently looking at how we can best proclaim God’s offer of salvation to those who have not heard or received it before. Currently, the main vehicle for evangelisation in our parishes is RCIA. However, we are keen to encourage parishes to explore further vehicles for evangelisation, such as Alpha in a Catholic Context or the Sycamore programme.

Our Cathedral parish also occasionally hosts Nightfever, which offers people a simple opportunity to encounter Christ by lighting a candle and spending time before the Blessed Sacrament.

If you are interested in running a course or event to introduce people to the gospel in our Diocese, please contact Gregory Stacey (Diocesan Co-ordinator for Catechesis, Adult Formation).
