During March, Diocese of Leeds Music hosted the fourth annual National Schools Singing Programme (NSSP) Conference at Hinsley Hall, welcoming just short of 70 Choral Directors and schools singing programme managers from Catholic dioceses and Anglican cathedrals across the UK.
Delegates including a representative from the NSSP’s major funder, the Vinehill Trust, benefited from sessions focussing on vocal technique, building relationships with local Arts Council-funded ‘music hubs’ and using the NSSP’s musicianship and faith resources, which have been crafted by the Diocesan Music Department.
The guests also observed Diocese of Leeds Choral Directors leading a whole-class singing session at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School (which the Head Teacher also joined in enthusiastically!) and rehearsals of the Children’s Choir, Senior Girls Choir and Choral Scholars at the Cathedral before singing for Mass.
