Diaconate Ordination of Rev Marc Pitson

On Wednesday 13 July Bishop Marcus ordained Marc Pitson to the Diaconate during a Mass at Leeds Cathedral. Marc was supported by members of his family, clergy from the Diocese of Leeds, and a large number of friends from far and wide.

Afterwards they joined him for a celebration lunch in Wheeler Hall. At the present time Marc is on a pastoral placement at the parish of St John Mary Vianney in Leeds, where the clergy and parishioners hosted an evening celebration for Marc in the Queen’s Hall.

Marc is originally from Hull, and moved to Leeds in 2011 to study Theology at Leeds Trinity University. Brought up as an Anglican, during his time at Leeds Trinity he got involved with the Chaplaincy and became more and more interested in Catholicism. This eventually led to him being received into the Catholic Church. After graduating from University he spent a long period discerning his vocation and began to feel that God was calling him to be a diocesan priest. He was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Leeds and sent to the Venerable English College in Rome to pursue his studies.

Congratulations to Marc and our prayers and best wishes as he enters the final stage of his training for the priesthood.
