At a Mass at St Mary’s College, Oscott on the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, Stephen O’Hara, a Seminarian for the Diocese of Leeds, received the Ministry of Lector (Reader).
The Mass was celebrated by Bishop William Kenney, an auxiliary Bishop in Birmingham. Being a special Feast Day, Mass was followed by a festal College meal attended by Stephen’s family and friends.
The Lay Ministries of Lector (Reader) and Acolyte are ministries given to all candidates for Holy Orders and were established by Pope Paul VI in 1973 after his apostolic letter Ministeria Quaedam.
