Christmas Comes Early for Christ the King!

A pupil at Christ the King Catholic Primary School in Bramley, is the winning designer of the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s official Christmas card!

The Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, who is local MP for Leeds West and Pudsey, together with former Leeds West MP Sir John Battle, Knight Commander of the Order of St Gregory the Great, visited the school in the St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust – to present Year 4 pupil Charlotte with printed copies of the Christmas card she designed.

The Head Teacher of Christ the King Primary School, Anne-Marie Waide, said: ‘We are so proud of Charlotte for winning the Christmas Card competition. Charlotte is a creative artist and deserves this recognition. Well done, Charlotte!’

The School Council met the visitors and talked about democracy in action in the school and some of the projects they had championed, including a temporary swimming pool on the school site for the month of November and the ‘School Reading Dog’ that the children read to each week.

Sir John Battle then led workshops in Key Stage 2 classes, enabling pupils to know and understand more about the House of Commons and our national democratic system.
