Funding

The cost of running our Parish is around £5,600 each and every week.  The cost of unexpected repairs and maintenance also needs to be covered.  We don’t receive any regular financial support from any external organisations.

Please consider whether you are able to give a regular amount.  A regular gift allows us to plan for the future because it gives us a steady income that we can rely on.

By giving to the Cathedral in this way you too are helping support our mission here in the heart of Leeds.  Whether you attend here regularly or just occasionally, whether on a Sunday or a weekday, please do consider whether you are able to help us financially.

Thank you!

Week 1 – Stewardship – 15th/16th February 2020

Over the next three weeks we will be running a short campaign focussed on ensuring that our Cathedral is financially viable and that our community and building remain a welcoming prayerful presence in the heart of the city.

We give thanks…..

We are able to worship here today thanks to the generosity and dedication of all those who support the parish and of those who have gone before us.

What legacy will we hand on to those who will follow us? How will they look back at this time? It isn’t just about the building fabric and running costs – those are simply what make the real work possible, which is building the Kingdom of God here in this great city of Leeds.

For Reflection……

How is God calling me to use the blessings and gifts He has entrusted to me?

Am I using my gifts of time, talent and my financial blessings responsibly and how can I use them to support my parish?

“Each one should give what he has decided in his own mind, not grudgingly or because he is made to, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Week 2 – Financial overview and a message from the Dean – 22nd/23rd February 2020

A Message from the Dean…

Our Cathedral is a treasure. It is a place of beauty dedicated to the greater glory of God. It is also our home. It is where we gather to worship God, proclaim Christ’s Gospel and sustain each other in Faith, in good times and bad. For almost 120 years it has been the symbol and reality of the Church’s presence in the centre of Leeds.

The Cathedral is our inheritance, made possible by the care and support given to it by all those who have gone before us. Today, in turn, it is our responsibility to care for and support the Cathedral as best we can, not least so that we can hand on this great treasure to future generations.

To fulfil that responsibility we need the resources to enable us to support the Cathedral: to pay for its upkeep on a weekly basis and to meet the needs of maintenance and repair that inevitably arise.

At the moment our financial resources are insufficient to enable us to do all of this effectively. This is why I am asking you to reflect on the message of our current three-week programme of information sharing and appeal. When you have done so, please give careful thought to how you might support the Cathedral financially so that we can live up to our responsibilities, honour our forebears and ensure a legacy that will be treasured long into the future.

Thank you for your continued support of the Cathedral and its mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Christ.
