Cathedral Launch of 2021 Leeds International Organ Festival

Happy New Year from LIOF!

This Sunday, 10 January, Leeds Cathedral Organist, David Pipe performs Olivier Messiaen’s La Nativité du Seigneur to launch the 2021 Leeds International Organ Festival.

This is an online event and will be live-streamed at 7 pm from Leeds Cathedral on lioflive.org.uk

David, who is the Festival’s Artistic Director, writes: ‘Following the success of 2020’s online Leeds International Organ Festival, LIOF Live, we are now delighted to launch the 2021 Festival through a live-streamed performance of Messiaen’s La Nativité du Seigneur from Leeds Cathedral this Sunday at 7 pm. Planning for the 2021 summer Festival is now underway, and we hope that by May we will be able to enjoy live music events together again, featuring organists from home and abroad, albeit with distancing and safety measures in place. If you missed any of the LIOF Live 2020 Festival you can find more details on the LIOF website, including concerts broadcast on www.lioflive.org.uk and episodes of Pipe Up! The Organ Podcast.’

More information will be released during the coming months about plans for Summer 2021 events on www.leedsiof.org  and also via the diocesan website.

The Leeds International Organ Festival is an initiative of Diocese of Leeds Music.
