LIVING WITH DIGNITY: Calling all Healthcare Professionals!

Healthcare professionals including parishioners and GPs from our own Diocese are campaigning to prevent a change in the Law on assisted suicide.

The national campaign is called Our Duty of Care  and is collecting signatures for a letter to the Health Secretary to express concerns about the safety of the Baroness Meacher’s Bill aiming to legalise assisted suicide and the impact such a change in the Law would have on vulnerable people and on between medical staff and their patients.

All Catholic healthcare professionals are being asked to visit  https://ourdutyofcare.org.uk and to read and sign, please, the open letter to the Health Secretary in advance of the Bill being debated in the House of Lords on 22 October 2021.

There are many saints who are Patrons of those who work in healthcare: St Luke, Sts Cosmas and Damian, St Agatha, St Catherine of Siena, St Camillus de Lellis, St Martin de Porres (pictured) and St Vincent de Paul to name but a few – and we ask them to intercede on behalf of all who care for the sick and the dying …

St Martin de Porres, Patron of Healthcare Workers: pray for us.
