Blessings for Batley, Birstall and Beyond!

During this Year of Prayer in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee of Hope across the Universal Church, we are encouraged to spend as much time as we can in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. At St Mary of the Angels in Batley, a congregation of around 150 from St Mary’s and St Patrick’s Parish and beyond did just that: joining Parish Priest Fr Eamonn Hegarty on the Second Sunday of Easter to celebrate a beautiful and moving Service of Solemn Vespers and Benediction.

The Parish, which is home to the Annual Batley Torchlight Procession, is blessed with a strong musical tradition. The Organist is Peter Siney and the Cantors, who also serve and sing at the Saturday Vigil Mass, have progressed through the Diocesan Schools Singing Programme, and are members of Leeds Cathedral Choir as well as enhancing the liturgies of their own Parish.

All Masses at St Mary’s and St Patrick’s Parish, including the 4.30pm Saturday Vigil, are live streamed via the Parish’s YouTube Channel – and the whole Solemn Easter Vespers and Benediction is available to watch via the link below:

This year’s Batley Torchlight Procession will begin outside the Church of St Mary of the Angels at 7.30pm on Monday 7 October 2024 and is followed by Benediction – ALL are welcome!

Visit the Parish website for more information and to connect with the Catholic Church – thriving in Batley and Birstall!

Our Diocesan Blessed Sacrament Procession starts at 3pm on Sunday 9 June at Hinsley Hall –  please send details and any photographs of a Corpus Christi Procession, Benediction, and times of Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in YOUR Parish to communications@dioceseofleeds.org.uk and/or jubilee2025@dioceseofleeds.org.uk – and visit our Diocesan website for the 2025 Jubilee as we progress towards the Holy Year as Pilgrims of Hope!
