Blessings and Blossoms in Beeston

On 22 May, Beeston was blessed with glorious weather and in the Parish of St Maximilian Kolbe, both parish schools were represented, along with parishioners, on the Parish May Procession making its way from St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School to St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School.

May is the month of Our Blessed Mother, Mary – and the Order of Service reflected the Queen of Heaven in all her glory, as the faithful prayed the Luminous Mysteries of the Holy Rosary and sang traditional Marian hymns, ending with the anthem Regina Caeli.

The behaviour and engagement from children at both St Francis’ and St Anthony’s was, as ever, excellent and a true credit to their schools. Those children who had recently made their First Communion processed in their white dresses and ‘Sunday Best’, and brought ‘flowers of the rarest and blossoms the fairest’ with which to crown Our Lady.

Parish Priest Fr Timothy Whitwell said, ‘On such wonderful occasions we are reminded of our Blessed Mary’s overarching and maternal love and protection for all, especially the people of Blessed Beestonia! Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us!’
