This Sunday (23 November), don’t forget to tune in at 8.10am to BBC Radio 4’s flagship ‘Sunday Worship’ programme, which will ‘Sing the Praise of Christ the King’ in a live broadcast from St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bradford!
The Solemnity of Christ the King is also National Youth Sunday – and during this Holy Year, the weekend of the Feast of St Cecilia, Patroness of Music (22 November) has been designated as the ‘Jubilee of Choirs’ – so the liturgy and music reflects all three of these celebrations.
Our Diocesan Youth Chaplain Fr Marc Pitson will present the programme, with music led by Bradford Catholic Youth Choir, conducted by Craig Perkinton and Adam Whitmore and accompanied on the organ by Benjamin Newlove.
As ever, we’ll be bringing down the average age of BBC Radio 4 contributors to ensure that young Catholics’ voices are given the prominence they deserve! Becca, a student at Bradford’s St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College and member of ‘The Twelve’ will give a reflection on saintly role-models for young people’s leadership in the Church; and Leeds Cathedral Chorister Kirsten will reflect on praising Christ the King in song.
