On Saturday 10th September, Hinsley Hall played host to an award ceremony for those who have completed the first stage of the Diocese of Leeds Bishop’s Certificate in Catechesis.
A brand new training programme for parish catechists, the Bishop’s Certificate seeks to develop practical skills and deepen theological knowledge of those involved in promoting the Faith in our parishes and institutions. The first level of the course is delivered online through videos and guided reflections and takes roughly six months to complete. Each participant is matched with a mentor who is an experienced catechist from another parish.
Having completed the first level, many of Saturday’s “graduates” are progressing to the second level which comprises a series of monthly workshops held at Hinsley Hall. Level I of the Bishop’s Certificate will recommence in January 2023. Our picture shows the “graduates” with Canon Timothy Swinglehurst and Fr Henry Longbottom from the Vicariate for Education.
