As part of the Year of Prayer and Preparation for next year’s Jubilee of Hope, the Bishops of England and Wales will celebrate a Eucharistic Congress on Saturday 14 September 2024 at Saint Mary’s College, Oscott, which will be held simultaneously with Adoration in our own parishes.
Bishop Marcus hopes that all the faithful of our Diocese will have the opportunity to participate spiritually in the Eucharistic Congress – and he has asked that, where possible, parishes across the Diocese celebrate a 40 Hours Solemn Eucharistic Devotion, ending with the Saturday evening vigil Mass on 14 September.
Where a parish does not have the capacity to celebrate this Devotion, parishioners are invited to join with another parish in the same Deanery.
Please do sign up for an hour (or more) to keep company with our Lord Jesus Christ, present in the Blessed Sacrament!
The specific prayer intention for this 40 Hours Devotion is for an increase in response to vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. (This is to support the national vocations event called ‘Invocation’, which will be taking place at St Mary’s College, Oscott, on Sunday 15 September.)
