Mgr Philip Moger to become a Bishop

Pope Francis, has appointed Rev Mgr Canon Philip Moger, until now a priest of this diocese and currently Rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham, as an Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Southwark.

At the news of the appointment, the Bishop of Leeds the Rt Revd Marcus Stock said: ‘Fr Philip will be very much missed by the clergy and the faithful of the Diocese of Leeds. To express our thanks and appreciation to him, and so that he will always keep the memory of this former diocese close to him, I have said that we will provide him with a crozier to use in his future episcopal ministry. Please keep him in your prayers as he prepares for his move to the Archdiocese of Southwark and his episcopal ordination.’

Bishop-Elect Moger will be ordained to the episcopate on Tuesday 21 February 2023 in St George’s Cathedral, Southwark. More details regarding the ordination will be published as soon as they are available.
