Advent Retreat

 Amidst the business of Christmas shopping a group of young people from across the Leeds Diocese met together at Myddelton Grange for a weekend of prayer, exploring the Catholic faith and fun. Here’s what some of them had to say about the retreat …

“The weekend for me was a chance to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and what Jesus means for me. It also gave me a chance to meet up with friends and share in prayer, using new ways such as song. I enjoyed this very much and was moved by the way everyone joined in.” (Lauren, Leeds)

“The retreat was spiritually moving and helped me to explore the different types of prayer. I was able to spend time with people who shared the same beliefs as me and I really enjoyed it. Father Martin and Anna were really enthusiastic and encouraged us to participate in all activities but never put us in situations whereby we felt uncomfortable. I had a fabulous time on retreat and I would encourage anyone in doubt to definitely go on a retreat!! I would certainly go again!!!” (Hannah, Huddersfield)

“It's always nice to get away from the stress and problems of everyday life, and when we went on retreat that's exactly what we did. We had lots of time to reflect and think about what was going on in our lives, and to think about our faith. We had different kinds of prayer, and I'm sure everyone came away with some new things. It was sad to come back to reality, but there are ways to bring that "special" feeling back home. I would definitely recommend a retreat to

“I have just returned from the retreat and I want to say how much of a fabulous weekend I have had. It has guided me through worries and reassured me that God is always there, even at the hardest of times. At the Bradford Oases on Saturday it was an amazing experience. Although very different to any of the usual types of prayer I am used to, the singing made it easier to find time with God. I would love to join you in January. It was great to spend time with people with the same beliefs and it was great to feel comfortable in a small group.
