National Vocations Pilgrimage to Walsingham

A group from Leeds Diocese is to participate in a National Vocations Pilgrimage to Walsingham on Saturday 21 June, it has been announced. This pilgrimage is now in its 31st year but it is only recently that it has acquired a truly national significance. All will be most welcome to join the group, which will be led by Fr Paul Grogan. Widespread Media Interest in Priesthood

BBC Radio Leeds invited Vocations Director Fr Paul Grogan to speak about his own vocation on the early morning show this Sunday(13 April), Vocations Sunday. Presenter Trevor Gibbons (left) asked about the recent increase in the number of men beginning at seminary in England and Wales (up from 24 in 2003 to 44 in 2007)and about the recent well-received Leeds Diocesan Vocations Calendar.

Vocations Fair
5th April 2008

An innovative idea to help top-year primary school pupils to think about how they may live out their Christian faith was launched this week. Up to 600 Year Six pupils are expected to attend a diocesan Vocations Fair which is to be held on Tuesday 22 and Thursday 24 June at Leeds Trinity and All Saints, Horsforth.

Priest Causes Peruvian Riot

A colourful account of priestly life in Peru was provided by Fr Dan Harrison at a recent meeting of the Monthly Discernment Group. He recounted how, when he was a young priest, he provoked a minor riot when he closed a dysfunctional parish youth group in a poor area of Lima and how things went from bad to worse when machine-gun-toting police arrived to quell the disorder.
