The Diocese of Leeds
Promoting Vocations

The Vocations Service seeks to foster a culture of Christian vocation within the diocese. We have set ourselves the following objectives:

1. In liaison with school chaplains, heads of RE, heads of Year 10 and religious, to deliver presentations on Christian vocation to Year 10 students in all our high schools each year, with specific reference to the priesthood and religious life.

 2. To accompany men who have begun to think that God may be calling them to the priesthood and enable them to discern further.

3. To preach on vocations to the priesthood in deaneries of the diocese, according to a rolling programme.

4. To offer opportunities for all young men and women  to discern their vocation within the Church.

5. To coordinate annual presentations on the priesthood by parish priests to Year 6 pupils in all our primary schools each year.

6. To foster prayers for a flourishing of Christian vocations within the diocese, and especially for an increase in the number of young people offereing themselves for the priesthood and religious life.

7. To develop means of publicising initiatives, including use of the website, the diocesan newspaper, "Catholic Post", and promotional leaflets.
