Discernment group
The monthly discernment group helps men, aged 17 or over, who think that the Lord may be calling them to the priesthood, to reflect further on this possibility.
Our Thursday meetings are characterised by prayer, catechesis and good fellowship.
The meetings, which take place in the Chaplaincy at Leeds Trinity University College, Horsforth, begin with a cup of tea at 6.00 pm. At 6.30 pm we have a Holy Hour in the chapel which concludes with Evening Prayer and Benediction. There is an opportunity to go to confession during this period. Afterwards, a guest speaker gives a half-hour talk and those present share a meal. See the calendar list below for the dates of the meetings.
The2011- 2012 talks focus on The Second Vatican Council: Fifty Years On.
Participants are encouraged to attend some other important events in the diocese. They also meet with Mgr Grogan every six weeks or so. If it appears that they may indeed have a vocation to the priesthood, they are assigned a spiritual director.
All prospective seminarians are encouraged to engage in appropriate charitable work in their parishes.
