Mass at Our Lady of the Crag for the Feast of the Assumption
15th August 2018
The Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is a Holy Day of Obligation and on Wednesday, 15th August at 10.30am, Bishop Marcus made his first visit to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag in Knaresborough to celebrate a Mass to mark this major Marian Feast.
Many parishioners from St Mary's, Knaresborough and their parish priest, Fr William Wright attended, along with several of the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal, accompanied by their Mother Superior, visiting from New York, with Sr Therese and her guitar leading the singing.
The congregation came from across the Diocese, along with several oecumenical representatives and filled the seating outside the Chapel to capacity. After Mass, all sang Salve Regina in honour of the Blessed Virgin, followed by refreshments and a group photograph.
This tiny mediaeval wayside shrine is just one of the historic treasures to be found across the Diocese of Leeds and is in the care of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag Trust. For more information, visit the Trust's website:
