Oxbridge Success for Notre Dame Catholic 6th Form College

Nine students from Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College have been offered places to study at Oxford or Cambridge Universities next September.

Elena Trowsdale, Oliver Dodsworth, Eve Rooney, Francesca Hunt, Amy Kitchingman, Bradley Watson, Joely Hopwood, Laura Gerrard and Matthew Tam represent Notre Dame's highest number of successful Oxbridge applications for many years.

Four of the students attended Catholic high schools:  Bradley Watson and Francesca Hunt (both from Corpus Christi Catholic College) have been offered places at Cambridge to study Engineering and English respectively, while Eve Rooney and Joely Hopwood (from St. Thomas a Becket’s) are to study Spanish with Linguistics and Law at Oxford University.

Earning places at these prestigious universities is a great achievement and the Oxbridge support team, led by teachers Kitty Graham and Penny Beaumont have done an excellent job in helping these, and other students, gain places at top universities.

College Principal, Terry Coen said: “We are proud of the achievements of all of our students at whatever level, but it is particularly pleasing to see that we can compare so favourably at the highest level with many selective schools and colleges.  These students are a credit to the whole Diocesan family of Catholic schools.”
