An Extraordinary Wedding!
28th July 2017
On Sunday, 23rd July, the first marriage ceremony according to the 1962 Rite in Latin since St Joseph's, Bradford became the new permanent home for a regular Mass in the Extraordinary Form took place at the church.
Imogen Genevieve Walker was married to Daniel James Illingworth. Father Michael Hall was the celebrant, with Canon Tim Wylie attending in white choir. The Servers were Jan Niczyperowicz and two of the bride's brothers.
Imogen is the eldest daughter of Leeds Latin Mass Society representative Neil Walker. Neil said: 'The bride's own great-great grandparents were married in this church nearly 125 years ago with the same Rite. How marvellous that this same Faith has remained in the same family and even the same parish church and God-willing that same Faith will extend in generations to come.'
Organist Richard Niczyperowicz played Pachelbel's Canon as processional and both Purcell's Trumpet Tune and Mendelssohn's Wedding March as recessional music, and family, friends and parishioners joined in with the hymns: The Lord's My Shepherd, Soul Of My Saviour and Hail, Queen Of Heaven.
