WAKEFIELD'S WALK OF WITNESS
20th April 2017
About 600 Christians from Wakefield made a walk of witness around the city on Good Friday.
The event was organised by Churches Together in Wakefield, as it has been for over 40 years, and culminated in a united service at the Cathedral, which was led by Anglicans, Methodists and Catholics.
Anthony McGilloway from SS Peter & Paul’s Parish carried the cross through the busy city streets and market area, just as Christ did in Jerusalem. Members of PossAbility, a Christian group for people with a disability carried their home-made banners. The Cathedral Girls’ Choir sang the traditional reproaches at the end of the walk, as it entered the Cathedral.
