A very Happy Ascension!

Our 2015 Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes is from 03 to 09 July.

The Pilgrimage will be led by Rt Rev Marcus Stock, the Bishop of Leeds.     He writes:

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ

This is my first Lourdes pilgrimage as your Bishop;  we come to Lourdes to celebrate our life in Christ Jesus; to be joyful and to share in the Gospel of life with others.  Let us be inspired by our Mother Mary, who brings a homely warmth to our pilgrimage.  I would like to share with you this quote from Pope Francis, "Whenever we look to Mary, we come to believe once again in the revolutionary nature of love and tenderness."  (Evangelii Gaudium 288)

The pilgrimage theme is  "Lourdes, the joy of mission."  We are told to  make disciples of all the nations;  baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you  and know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time." (Mt.28:17-20).

So let us enthrone these Holy words in our hearts, so that His word might flourish and when opportunity presents, let us be courageous and share our beautiful faith with others.

Let us spend these days of pilgrimage with our Blessed Lady and Saint Bernadette;  let us pray for help, to say our "yes" to Jesus, and to make the Good News of Jesus ring out.

Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us.       Saint Bernadette pray for us.

Assuring you of my prayers and best wishes,  I remain

Yours in Christ

+Marcus Stock,   Bishop of Leeds

09 May Pilgrimage annual Mass.

Bishop Marcus celebrated the annual Pilgrimage month of May Mass at 12 noon on Saturday 09 May at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Harrogate Road, Moortown, Leeds.   Canon Irving preached the homily..

A buffet lunch followed Mass in next door Queens Hall.  This gave our pilgrims a chance to meet our new   +Marcus infomally.

The Hospitality team were also on hand to meet and greet pilgrims over lunch.   Pilgrimage doctors and nurses carried out nursing and medical assessments during the afternoon with those pilgrims who require particular care or some form of support..

It was a very good and much enjoyed day.  On behalf of all involved with our Leeds Diocesan Pilgrimage I wish you every blessing and also every encouragement in preparing for our  July Pilgrimage.
