This is how the parish Facebook post put it:
They're not just Mums, they're Supermums! Congratulations to Amy Greenwood, Emma Hollerer and Claire Grooby who have just completed our first diocesan-approved, eight-session course in parenting. The weekly morning meetings in a dedicated room in the presbytery provided a chance to reflect in a structured way and share insights (and croissants) (and laughter at past mistakes). Thank you to facilitators Helen Long and Julia Mason.
Many congratulations to Helen and Julia who attended the Diocesan Parenting Project's FCT Initial Training at St Peter's church in Bradford. It is great to see how quickly you are putting that to good use! And to Fr Paul Grogan (pictured here) for his enthusiastic and practical support of these mums and the Diocesan Parenting Project.
Of course you do not have to go on a parenting course to be a super mum but usually it really is the super mums who are most keen to attend these lovely community building small group sessions of the Family Caring Trust's programmes.
Check out www.familycaring.co.uk to see the full range of relationship education programmes for families. No qualifications are required to attend any of these courses (and there are no tests)! It is a simple process of spending a little time each week thinking about the greatest work on earth... that of parenting. Mums dads grandparents and other carers who attend find friendship and fun and affirmation. It is such a relief to discover that our hard emotional labour at home is a universal: we really are not the only ones to worry about our children and whether we are doing the best for them. We are not alone!
The next course is in Leeds:
