Ongoing Formation - Resources and Courses

There are many good resources available. Here are just a few from our own diocese and from further afield.

Catholic Foundation Stones

CATHOLIC FOUNDATION STONES: Exploring the basics of the Faith (£6.95), by Fr John Wilson & Fr Andrew Allman

Catholic Foundation Stones is a basic introduction to the Catholic faith. It is simple and straightforward and can be used with:

People who are interested in learning something about the Catholic faith

People who are interested in becoming Catholics (Journey in Faith, RCIA)

  • Catholics who wish to deepen their knowledge of the faith
  • Catholics who are returning to the practice of their faith
  • Staff in Catholic schools, both Catholic and non-Catholic, who would benefit from learning more about the faith that underpins where they work

Structured around the four sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the twelve sessions of Catholic Foundation Stones will be useful in many different areas of parish and school catechesis and faith formation.

"I highly recommend this resource for use in Catholic parishes and schools. For anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith, Catholic Foundation Stones is a very accessible and inviting place to begin."

From the Foreword by Rt Rev Arthur Roche, Bishop of Leeds

Echoes is a parish based training resource - an initial formation programme for those who are or who want to be involved in parish or family catechesis. It is designed for anyone handing on faith, whether to children or adults, and provides a rounded formation in the central aspects of the Catholic faith and how to transmit this to others in different contexts.

Echoes is one of the resources from the Maryvale Institute (www.maryvale.ac.uk). The Echoes course has been run in a number of parishes in the Diocese and the feedback from participants has been very positive.

For more information about Echoes contact Linda Pennington at linda.pennington@dioceseofleeds.org.uk
