On Saturday 15 May there was a Diocesan RCIA Day held at The Holy Name parish centre in Leeds. RCIA or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process by which adults are prepared to receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Eucharist. Many parishes have a team of catechists and other parishioners who with their parish priests lead the Journey in Faith sessions for those who wish to learn more about the Catholic Faith.
The day in Leeds was attended by people from a number of parishes across the diocese and began with an overview of the RCIA process. The main focus of the morning session however was The Period of Enquiry while the afternoon session explored the Period of Mystagogia. The day was planned and delivered by a group from the Northern Dioceses Network for RCIA. The Leeds RCIA team were delighted to be joined by Veronica Murphy from Liverpool and Catherine Davies from Salford who led the afternoon session.
Next year there will be a second diocesan day looking at The Period of the Catechumenate. For more information about RCIA click on Catechesis in the left hand menu or go to www.rcia.org.uk
