"(In Masses with adults) it is necessary to take great care that the children present do not feel neglected because of their inability to participate or to understand what happens and what is proclaimed in the celebration" (Directory for Masses with Children, 17)
On Sunday the People of God gather together to celebrate in word and Eucharist the mystery of our Lord's death and resurrection. The celebration includes everyone: young and old.
In many parishes children celebrate their own liturgies of the word, with leaders and parents, in a separate place, and return to their families in the main body of the church for the liturgy of the Eucharist.
There has been a tremendous growth in this celebration of Children's Liturgy of the Word during the past few years. Many parishes have large and enthusiastic teams who each Sunday proclaim the Gospel in lively and creative ways and so bring the message of Jesus to life for the children and young people of their community. The number of books, photocopiable sheets, posters, music tapes and other resources available has also increased and many of these are listed at the back of the CLOW Resource Pack.
In order to help and support leaders of CLOW a resource pack has been compiled. This pack complements the many excellent resources already available for those involved with Children's Liturgy of the Word.

The "Treasure Group" consists of training officers and advisors who support people who work with children. At present there are representatives from the Anglican Dioceses of Ripon & Leeds and Wakefield, the Methodist Church, the United Reformed Church and the Catholic Diocese of Leeds.
The aim of the "Treasure Group" is to plan training events for those who work with children. Each event focuses on a different theme and offers ideas for activities, prayer and resources. During the summer of 2009 five evening events were held throughout the Yorkshire area to explore the theme of "Earthly Treasure" (Creation and the Environment). Previous "treasure" evenings have explored the themes of Come & Share the Treasure (The Parable of the Sower), Advent Treasure, Saintly Treasure, Easter Treasure, Treasuring Children's Prayer, Pentecost Treasure and Story Treasure.
