What do we hope to achieve?

This renewal process is fundamentally a step in faith. It’s about our desire to be faithful to the invitation and commission of Jesus. Therefore, we step out with confidence and prayer, trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We hope that the process is simple and flexible enough for everyone in the diocese to take part in some way. The five broad themes outlined for the next five years will need to be interpreted and adapted to individual circumstances. The Vicariate for Evangelisation will oversee and help resource this, but the process provides an opportunity for parishes and schools to develop and enhance their own initiatives. One important aim of the process is to bring people together locally for the work of formation in spirituality, catechesis, mission and evangelisation.

We hope the process helps as many people as possible to take a step forward on their journey of faith. What this step is will be different for each of us. If, through this attempt at renewal, someone discovers God’s love for them in Christ in a new or deeper way, we will happily take that as success.
