RCIA Journey in Faith

RCIA stands for The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the means by which the Catholic Church welcomes people to faith in Christ and membership of the Church. Every Christian community has the responsibility of offering people a way to come to faith in Christ and to become a member of the Church. This involves giving witness to Christ by our lives, presenting Christ and his Gospel through the tradition of the Church, helping individuals grow through an “apprenticeship in faith” and accompanying them on their journey in faith.

In order to support parishes in this work a catechist pack has been produced by a working party of catechists and clergy. The working party was formed after a series of meetings around the diocese, alongside a questionnaire to all parishes, highlighting some of the issues and needs of those involved in RCIA.
