Our Mission/Vision/Purpose/Commitment
‘At the heart of catechesis we find, in
essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Son
from the Father…who suffered and died for us and who now,
after rising, is living with us forever.’ To catechise is
to ‘reveal in the person of Christ the whole of God’s
eternal design reaching fulfilment in the Person. It is to seek
to understand the meaning of Christ’s actions and words
and of the signs worked by him.’ Catechesis aims at putting
‘people…in communion…with Jesus Christ: only
he can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make
us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.’

of the Catholic Church n. 426
Our Mission
To serve the Diocesan family by working collaboratively to meet
the needs of the local Church in catechesis, education and formation.
Our Vision
We believe that God’s life and love, fully revealed in Jesus
Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, are freely given to all
people.
We believe that by baptism everyone shares in the Church’s
mission to proclaim and teach the Gospel to the whole world.
We believe that the baptised have a right and duty to engage in
life-long catechesis, formation and education. This both deepens
their personal faith and commitment, and also equips and forms them
to fulfil their calling.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to contribute to the formation of individuals and
communities within the Diocese so that they might grow in their
understanding of the Gospel and in Church’s teaching and faith.
Our Commitment
We are committed to working together with clergy and laity throughout
the Diocese to initiate, facilitate and resource catechesis, religious
education and formation for all.
